If you’re in pain right now

Call or WhatsApp us directly. Don’t wait for a scheduled appointment. Tell us what’s happening and we’ll tell you what to do next — either come in immediately or come first thing the next morning depending on the situation.

We can’t always see emergencies instantly, but we won’t leave you without guidance.

What counts as a dental emergency

  • Severe toothache — especially pain that’s constant, wakes you at night, or doesn’t respond to paracetamol
  • Swelling in the face, jaw, or neck — this can be serious; don’t wait
  • Knocked-out tooth — there’s a short window to save it (see below)
  • Broken or cracked tooth causing pain or sharp edges
  • Lost filling or crown that’s causing sensitivity or pain
  • Abscess — a swelling with pus, fever, or spreading pain
  • Bleeding that won’t stop after an extraction or injury

Not everything that’s urgent requires emergency treatment. A mildly chipped tooth with no pain can usually wait until a scheduled appointment.

A knocked-out tooth — act fast

If a permanent tooth is completely knocked out:

  1. Handle it by the crown (the white part), not the root
  2. If it’s dirty, rinse gently with milk or clean water — don’t scrub
  3. Try to place it back in the socket — hold it in place with gentle pressure
  4. If you can’t re-insert it, put it in milk, or between your cheek and gum
  5. Get to us within 30–60 minutes

The sooner you come, the better the chance of saving the tooth. Don’t wait until the next day.

This applies to permanent teeth only. Baby teeth should not be re-inserted.

What happens when you come in

We’ll assess the problem, take an X-ray if needed, and give you immediate relief — antibiotics for infection, drainage for an abscess, temporary filling for a lost restoration, or definitive treatment if the situation warrants it.

We’ll tell you exactly what’s happening and what the options are. No guessing.

Does it hurt?

If you need local anaesthetic: yes, the injection may sting briefly. After that, we aim to make the treatment itself painless. If you’re in pain when you arrive, reducing that pain quickly is our first priority.

Emergency treatment typically addresses the immediate problem. Follow-up treatment (a filling, root canal, or extraction) is scheduled separately and has its own cost — we’ll explain that once the emergency is managed and you’re no longer in pain.

After hours

If you have an emergency outside clinic hours, message us on WhatsApp. We check messages regularly. We’ll advise you on whether it needs to come in that night or can wait until morning, and what to do in the meantime.

We’re not a 24-hour clinic. But we don’t leave people in pain without guidance.
